Message from Chief Mark Lorenzen
Welcome to the Ventura County Fire Department. As you explore our website, I hope it will provide insight into what we mean when we say, “Committed to Excellence, Delivered with Pride.”
Anticipating and responding to the diverse needs of our dynamic population is more than just the mission statement for VCFD. It’s a way of life and the men and women of VCFD are proud to serve those who rely on us for safety and protection.
Our department is dedicated to making Ventura County a safer place to live and work. We are continually working to ensure that our training, equipment and facilities meet the needs of the citizens and communities we serve. We take every precaution to protect and prepare the public for emergencies. But the reality is, during a large scale disaster, there will not be enough firefighters to help everyone. We need our community members to be part of the solution.
By following the simple steps of being prepared, getting involved and staying informed, the public can successfully plan for any disaster. Here are a few simple tips to help you get started.
When we have a major incident in the county – an earthquake, wildfire or other significant event – a special yellow box will appear on our home page with information on the incident, including its location, current status, size, evacuations and road closures. When a major emergency occurs, go to our home page for details. Our Fireline page is a real-time activity log that will show you the calls for service being answered by our firefighters.
Our “Ready, Set, Go!” wildfire preparation site has everything you need to know about preparing your home and family for wildfires or other emergencies like floods. It offers videos, downloadable printed materials, checklists, links and other information.
Please explore this website and visit our partner agencies as there are numerous local emergency resources available to help with advance planning and preparation. Ventura County has a strong reputation for excellence. When we work together, we strengthen community relations and further enhance our resiliency.
