Leftover household products that contain corrosive, toxic, ignitable, or reactive ingredients are considered to be “Hazardous Materials.” These materials require special care when disposed.
Ventura County Fire stations do not accept any waste products, including hazardous materials of any kind. This includes:
- Pesticides and fertilizers
- Motor oil and/ or filters
- Batteries (automotive or household)
- Fluorescent lights
- Suspicious packages or letters
- Household cleaning products
- Expired prescription drugs
If you have questions or need information on where to take Hazardous Material, please contact your local city or the County of Ventura. Your local VCFD fire station may also have information for appropriate collection sites.
