Fire Department Employment Opportunities

The Ventura County Fire Department serves more than 480,000 people in the unincorporated areas of Ventura County and cities of Camarillo, Ojai, Port Hueneme, Moorpark, Santa Paula, Simi Valley, and Thousand Oaks.

VCFD Firefighter Recruitment Types:
The main types of VCFD recruitments include:

  • Open Recruitment – open to any applicant.
  • Open Paramedic Only – open to any applicant who has a paramedic license from the California Emergency Medical Services Authority.

Firefighter Career
VCFD’s more than 560 uniformed firefighters protect life, property and environment through fire protection, medical aid, technical rescue, hazardous materials response, public education and community service. Although it can take years of preparation, firefighting is a career that’s worth the wait.
