The National Weather Service and Ventura County Sheriff’s Emergency Services are monitoring the second in a series of storms expected to impact Ventura County. We will start seeing light rain as early as Saturday afternoon and will increase. Moderate to heavy periods of rain are anticipated through at least Sunday afternoon for most areas of the county, with the potential for continued rain through Monday evening, and tapering off through Tuesday. With the heavy rain, that will bring a higher chance for flooding in creeks, rivers and streams. Debris flows are possible with the saturated soils in mountain and canyon areas. Projected rainfall totals for the coasts and valleys are between 3-6 inches, while the foothills and mountains can expect up to 6-12 inches. Strong wind gusts will also accompany this storm, with peak gusts between 55-75 mph in some mountain areas. Snow is expected in higher elevations above 7,000 ft.
High Surf Advisory remains in effect from 2:00 AM Thursday to 6:00 AM Saturday. Surf over west facing beaches will peak at 7 to 12 feet.
