Our Training Process
Public and responder safety is the top priority for the Ventura County Fire District and Ventura County Fire Department. We fully prepare our employees to fulfill their obligations, duties, and mission by providing comprehensive baseline training and top-tier firefighting and rescue equipment. Advanced levels of training are also delivered in emergency response, emergency management, organizational management, and leadership. This training is structured and delivered to prepare personnel for the complexities and integration of the Fire District’s multi-disciplined mission. Recruit and promotional training is provided and reflects the required physical and professional competencies. Detailed training and qualification records are tracked and accessible for effective personnel certification management and documentation.

The Training Section is headed by a Battalion Chief and programs are overseen by four assigned Captains. Our Training Captains also respond and perform as Safety Officers on large incidents.
