As a Fire Control Worker with VCFD, you’ll assist in fire prevention and suppression efforts by maintaining firebreaks, operating specialized equipment, performing facility upkeep, and

Fire Control Worker
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess a valid California Driver’s License
- Must be able to obtain a Class “B” License within the first six (6) months
of employment
Hiring Process
Step 1: Online Application

Step 2: Written Exam
- Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to take an unproctored, internet-based written exam. This job-related exam evaluates applicants’ knowledge of motor vehicle operations and safety, following written instructions, and general mathematics. A score of seventy percent (70%) or higher is required to pass.
Step 3: Beep Test

Step 4: Background Investigation & Medical Evaluation
- A thorough pre-employment background investigation, including inquiry into past employment, education, criminal history, and driving records, is required for this position. Candidates must also meet stringent physical standards established through a medical examination prior to hire.
