Youth Programs

Girls’ Fire Camp is a free two-day experience designed to engage young women ages 14 to 18 and share what it’s like to be a firefighter through fun, hands-on activities. Led by inspirational female firefighters from agencies across the west coast, Girls Fire Camp features different scenarios each day. For more information about the camp, click here.

Junior Fire Academy

Junior Fire Academy is a free, intensive five-day camp for boys and girls ages 13 to 15, offering hands-on experience and education about fire safety careers. Fire Explorers Program

The Ventura County Fire Explorer Program is designed for young men and women ages 16 to 20 interested in pursuing a firefighting career. This engaging program focuses on building self-confidence and leadership skills through community-related activities. Explorers earn the opportunities to participate in ride-alongs, assist firefighters with station activities, and participate in limited emergency incidents. Volunteer

Our VCFD Volunteer program is about more than just time spent. Those who can, do. Those who can do more, volunteer. Our Community Education Program delivers fire prevention, education, and safety programs for children, adults, and seniors. VCFD Volunteers go out into the community and work to make this possible. Working together, we all make a difference—one volunteer, one program, and one action at a time.

VCFD Volunteer Form The Volunteer Program recruits quarterly. If you’re interested in becoming a volunteer, please complete and submit an online form to start the process.

NOTE: Ventura County Fire Department does NOT have a volunteer firefighter program.
