The community is invited to join the Ventura County Fire Department on Thursday, September 21, in paying tribute to Engineer Ryan S. Osler. Osler was tragically killed one year ago in the line of duty while responding to the Canyon fire in Lompoc, California.
A dedication will be made at Osler’s last-assigned station in Moorpark at 1:00 p.m. During the brief event, a memorial wall constructed by fellow firefighters will be unveiled and dedicated at Fire Station 42, located at 295 E. High Street.
“In the days, weeks, and months following the loss of our brother and friend, our fire family felt an outpour of ongoing support and compassion from people in our communities,” commented Fire Chief Mark Lorenzen. “This ceremony is meant to bring everyone together to honor Ryan’s memory, sacrifice, and legacy. We are one big family and we will always remember him.”
On September 21st, VCFD will also fly flags on fire engines, lower all flags to half-staff and wear Osler memorial t-shirts.
Osler, 38, died in a tragic vehicle accident on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. He was a devoted father, husband, and 18-year veteran with the Ventura County Fire Department.
