Station 35 History

On August 17, 2017, crews moved into the new $5.5 million, 11,233 square-foot Station 35 in Newbury Park. It replaces the old Station 35 on Hillcrest Drive which was built in 1962.

Station 35

Station 35 is a two story facility featuring office and public interface areas, three apparatus bays large enough to house a ladder truck, nine dorms to provide for an engine and truck company, additional support areas needed to provide for operational readiness and ADA access.

The Newbury Park Station is staffed daily by 7 firefighters and houses Engine 35 with 3 firefighters; and four assigned to Ladder truck 35; Reserve Engine OES 344, and Command 11.

The ladder truck is a tiller design, wherein the chassis is a tractor-trailer with a steerable rear axle, providing greater maneuverability on today’s city streets.

The reserve engine is an Office of Emergency Services (OES) engine.  There are 120 OES engines statewide and two in the Ventura County Fire Department.  These engines are owned and maintained by the state and deployed with local fire departments to be used during disasters.  They carry additional specialized tools and equipment for enhanced Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) capabilities.  Our personnel will staff the engine and respond with other local fire department’s personnel on their respective OES apparatus anywhere in the state.
